He Had Me at the First Kick {Me and Drake}

It took birthing 3 healthy baby boys to realize (but realize I did) that my body is a baby-making machine! {snicker} I feel so blessed to be able to say that my pregnancies were easy with only mild-nausea and discomfort, and certainly no complications. In the end I came home with healthy baby boys and I can’t be more grateful. However {pause} I think that because of all that I recall seeing my mother go through in her pregnancies growing up, I struggled to find a connection with my babies in the first trimester. That connection {or bond} with my babies that some mothers talk about in the early stages of their pregnancies always seemed to lack for me until…..

I felt that first kick. For me, the baby never seemed real and viable until I felt that first kick, and then once I did, a whole new world opened up for me and the baby I was carrying. I could instantly feel a connection, I let myself dream about their gender and how they’d look and what they’d become. I distinctly remember the first time I felt movement when I was pregnant because it was thrilling. It was magical. It was the most euphoric rush of love I had ever experienced that electrified every part of my body from my toes to my fingertips. It was the moment that my dreams for that child began and I realized that I’m a “Mama Bear”. It was the moment that I realized that I’d do anything for my children and all it took was a kick.
