MAMA Bangladesh Launches Nationally to Reach 2 Million Moms!

Meaning “the trusted one,” Aponjon is led by the MAMA Bangladesh team in Dhaka and reaches 23 districts, trained more than 750 community health workers, and projected to reach two million moms by 2015.

Through the support of government leaders and agencies, the global health community and international companies, MAMA Bangladesh plans to empower more mothers and their families by providing information on everything from breastfeeding, caring for their babies, and when to go to the clinic.

Through easy to understand texts and reminders, MAMA and he Aponjon initiative continues to put the power of health in the hands of mothers and their family members.

MAMA is an innovative public-private partnership between USAID, Johnson & Johnson, the United Nations Foundation, mHealth Alliance, and BabyCenter. An initial investment of $10 million was made to create and strengthen programs in Bangladesh, India and South Africa.
