The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition’s Future Fortified campaign has one goal: ‘to help millions of women and children around the world access to the essential nutrients they need to lead healthy, enriched lives.’
Future Fortified provides mothers with the resources, training and knowledge they need to supplement their children’s nutritional intake with packets of fortified powders they add to meals they are already cooking. The women of Kenya, their country barely recovering from massive drought, share how they are fortifying their children’s future. “Together with community organizations, local businesses and the Kenyan Government we are reaching 20,000 children in Southern Kenya with the essential nutrients they need to live, grow and learn. This work is made possible through powerful, local women – community leaders, health workers, and mothers – working together to help nourish the future,” says Adrianna Logalbo, Director of Future Fortified. The campaign plans to reach 300,000 children over the next 6 months and 1.5 million children over the next 2 years.
