Newsday Tuesday: Needle-free Shots

By Global Moms Challenge

December 10, 2013

When we think of vaccines, we often immediately think about needles. Shots. Pain. But what if one day, we could administer life-saving vaccinations without needles?

That day is here.

Needles come with inefficiencies and complications like having to keep vials of vaccines refrigerated, and disposing needles safely.

A recent article on Wired.com shows four needle-free vaccines that are currently being used. Some of these methods are already being used to help save the estimated 1.5 children under 5 years old who die annually from vaccine-preventable diseases.
