What kind of world do you want for your family in 2030?

Whether it’s for our children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or neighbors, we need to envision the future in terms of health, education, and access to opportunities for our own families, and families around the world.

Imagine the world you want to see in 2030—what is important to your family, and what are you doing to make that a reality? Moms +SocialGood is a one-day event dedicated to the power of moms and families to create a better future for their communities, and the role of social media and philanthropy to boost health and happiness for moms and babies everywhere.
Hundreds of the brightest and most passionate people will gather on May 1, 2015 at the New York Times Center in Manhattan to share ideas and inspire action for improving the health and wellbeing of women and children. The event will also be broadcast globally via LiveStream.

The United Nations Foundation and Johnson & Johnson, with support from The Huffington Post and BabyCenter, are hosting Moms +SocialGood to draw attention to some of the greatest challenges facing women and children, and to put moms and dads at the forefront of the discussion on how to tackle these issues. It will connect parents to each other, to leading experts, and to a global audience, leveraging the power of social media, so anyone, anywhere, will be able to join the conversation and take action.

Moms +SocialGood will kick off the Global Moms Relay, a digital stage to share our hopes and goals for a better future, and inspire action. This online relay runs from May 1 to June 19 (just before Mother’s Day through Father’s Day), and will have more than 25 celebrities and community leaders from New York to Nairobi to answer the question, “What kind of world do you want for your family in 2030?”

Read these inspiring stories and share them with friends on your social networks, and Johnson & Johnson will donate $1 for each share on each network to boost health and happiness for moms and children around the world—proving that small actions can lead to big changes.
Why It Matters

  • Every 20 seconds a child dies from a vaccine-preventable disease.
  • Medical complications from pregnancy and childbirth are leading causes of death among girls ages 15-19 in low–and middle–income countries. And girls between the ages of 10 and 14 are five times more likely to die in pregnancy or childbirth than women aged 20-24.
  • For millions of mothers living in poverty, access to vital health information is a matter of life or death.
  • Ethiopia is among the countries with the highest number of annual newborn deaths: nearly 90,000 in 2012

While these facts are daunting, there is hope. Reserve your seat at Moms +SocialGood and join the Global Moms Relay to be part of the solution.
By raising awareness and funds, we can together help improve the health of women and children around the world in support of the UN Secretary-General’s Every Woman Every Child initiative.
